Arne Åse - tall translucent bowl in relief

Arne Åse (NO), a superb translucent bowl in porcelain. The decor is partly in low relief and partly painted with nervous and vibrating strokes in various oxides. The low relief-painting is a technique that Åse developed himself. He paints with shellac on the unburned chinaware, then wash away the uncovered surfaces with water. Thus some parts become thinner and more transparent than the others. For the colored parts Åse is using various oxides. This piece was bought by the first owner at Loes & Reinier International Ceramics Gallery in Deventer (NL).
