Bodil Manz (DK) - cylinder with colour areas in black, cobalt and red
Bodil Manz (DK), a huge cylinder, porcelain, slipcast, biscuit, cobalt and black areas with vertical red bands, height 19 cm; some distortion in the diameter which varies from 23,3 to 22,6 cm (see picture), painted maker’s mark, 1997. This cylinder was purchased from Galerie Carla Koch, Amsterdam in1997.
Note on the work of the artist: the porcelain casted objects are first biscuit fired at 900 ºc. After drying, a matt white glaze is added and the object is fired for the second time at 1300 ° C. In a third operation color bands or transfers are applied and the object is again fired on 1300 ° C. In this process and especially in these dimensions it is unavoidable that any distortion occurs. It may also be seen as a sign that despite the high degree of perfection this object is still created in a traditional way.
