Les Manning (CAN) - 'Drift Ridge', open container form

Les Manning (CAN) - open containerform, titled 'Drlft Ridge', stoneware and porcelain, partly thrown and hand-molded. All inspiration in Mannings work comes from the Rocky Mountains where he lives. Also in this work you feel and see the roughness of the mountains. The shape and the combination of the rough open brownish stoneware at the bottom in combination with the more closed grey in the middle and the porcelain surface make this a very attractive object. On the side an U-shaped shrinkage crack is visible, which apparently was accepted by the artist, as well as by Gallery Carla Koch in Amsterdam and the former owner.
