Lies Cosijn - Important oval box 'Two hands, two heads, two snakes'

Lies Cosijn made in the second half of the 1970s a number of square and oval ceramic boxes with titles like 'Schaakdoos' (Chess box), 'Doos van Pandora' (Box of Pandora) and 'Peerke is nog niet dood' (Peerke is not dead yet). These boxes are built from thick slabs of yellow chamotte clay. I case of this oval box the artist painted on one side two heads, two hands an d two snakes in sinter engobes. At the other side she painted a wide spread tree. At the top, there is no decoration.

The cover has on one side a light 'overbite'.
