    Michael Cardew (UK) – a rare ‘Gwari’ three handle casserole

    Michael Cardew (UK) – a handthrown ‘Gwari’ three-handle casserole under the influence of the African experience of the artist, stoneware, incised decoration in upper part and lid, Wenford Bridge Pottery, imperfect Asian look learned by his teacher Bernard Leach, around 1969 or earlier (one sticker says 1959 and exhibited in Museum Boijmans in 1960), height 22,8 cm; diameter 28,6 cm, artist and pottery stamps. Former J.W.N. van Achterbergh Collection, hence Collection I. Tirion-Beijerinck (curator Museum Boijmans-Van Beuningen Rotterdam).
