Pieter Starreveld (1911-1989), a rare oval enamel copper plate with a scene from Leda and the Swan, 1940-1950, 6 x 4 cm. The reverse side is finished off with contre-enamel. For a second variation with the theme of Leda: Marjan Unger, Het Nederlandse Sieraad (ornament) in the 20th Century, page 215, 216. Pieter Starreveld – sculptor – made these enamels only during the period 1940-1950. He sold the pieces to the Art Department of the company Van Kempen en Begeer, The Hague.
