    Frank Steylaert is born in Dendermonde in 1953. He studied building and ceramics at the academy of Aalst; Ceramics and Jewelry at the Koninklijke Academie van Antwerpen and the “Nationaal Hoger Instituut van Antwerpen” and graphic art at the Academy of Dendermonde. From 1975 till 2010 he was a teacher in Ceramics at multiple artistic schools: Deinze, Lokeren, Dendermonde, Liedekerke. Since 1986, he is a member of the ‘International Academy of Ceramics’ in Geneva. He is a member of the jury in many international competitions and is reviewer for several ceramic magazines.     Work

    Frank Steyaert is primarely known as a ceramic sculptor of shipwrecks, but in his work one can recognize a development to more free forms and use of colour. After 2000 his style became more abstract. His latest work is again more decorative.
