Émile Decœur is born in Paris on April 27, 1876. He is the son of a plumber. Émile became a pupil of Edmond Lachenal. He is known as a potter for his well balanced shapes, beautiful glazes and (sculpted) decorations. He was awarded the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honour on 12 June 1926. Émile Decoeur died on August 16, 1953 in Fontenay-aux-Roses (FR). Several musea, among them the Musée du Luxembourg and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York hold a nice collection of his vases, bowls, pots and plates.
