Demeester, Liliane

Liliane Demeester is a belgian artist. She followed the training for ceramic artist at Syntra Brugge and the training in plastic arts at the municipal academy of Menen. Liliane works in her studio with an electric 60-litre kiln that cooks between 1060-1160°C. Workshop: Keramiek Liliane Demeester, E. Liliane speaks: “Working with clay has always fascinated me. It is only in the last few years that I have intensively explored the possibilities. I am fascinated by the plasticity of the clay. One moment perfectly manageable, the other moment recalcitrant…each time an urge to take up the challenge with the plastic material until the perfect form is obtained. From a sometimes simple pot shape, a movement of its own arises. The clay seems to search its own way until it finds a balance and becomes a dancing whole. My designs are not studied in advance, they arise from a feeling and inspiration from nature and architecture.”
