Kunstatelier De Sphinx – tile picture

A unique tile picture, created in the Kunstatelier of De Sphinx in Maastricht under the direction of Edmond Bellefroid. Four tiles, in the middle two in horizantal position and the outer ones vertical, are mounted on wood with a small wooden frame. The underglaze decoration with birds, fishes and working women is typical for the 1960s. The influence of Edmond Bellefroid is recognizable in the skirt of the figure at right. This tile picture has been signed lower right with GD, which stand for the painter GER. DAEMEN.
