Prestige Collection – ‘Bodart’- earthenware, rare ornamental vase

Bodart’ – earthenware by De Porceleyne Fles in Delft. This ornamental vase is handthrown, at the bottom remains of silversand can be found. It looks if at the shoulder thick motifs of shell alternate with an accolade-like decoration in a almost lustre-like glow. Below this we recognize a motif with waves with green. The skin of the vase is furthermore in a thick streaming blue glaze. More lower we find French lily-like motifs. Lambert Bodart got between 1895 and 1905 from De Porceleyne Fles in Delft the freedom to develop his own line of shapes and decorations which carry an own Arts and Crafts like character. The characteristic cristal glazes are applied very thick. This typical ‘Bodart’ earthenware is rare to find.
