Lies Cosijn is in her work often expressing the abuses in the world. In the Roma series she defends the situation of gipsys in Romania. This expressive piece of art, a hollow two-pieces open container, is part of this Roma series. In this two-pieces artwork the shape and the image are equivalent. One can speak of into one another going elements. Slab built container, the hollow and flat human figures are posed in a dynamic way. The two pieces have on both sides a ‘sinterengobe’ decoration. Stoneware, handmolded. A comparable piece in the collection J.W.N. van Achterbergh. This piece is depicted at the cover of the monography “Compassie en Poëzie, Ceramiek van Lies Cosijn” (2002).
