Rolf Overberg (DE), ‘Owl cube’, highly abstracted owl in geometric design language on four feet, black stoneware, brown feldspar glaze with pressed artist signature. This owl is not made on the potter’s wheel, but cut from a leather-hard clay cube and then partly composed of several cubes. Fired at 1215 ° C. The motive of the owl runs through Overberg entire oeuvre – no other issue is varied so often and taken over again. At the bottom with adhesive label and “Rolf Overberg […] / No. 4 / Owl”. There are several variations of these owl cube, but all are unique.
